CAROLINE BESWICK

Caroline has 10 years’ experience working on high profile health and social issues communication campaigns for not-for-profit organisations and leading OTC brands. As a key member of the team at a leading healthcare agency, Caroline worked on a range of voluntary sector clients such as the British Lung Foundation, British Thoracic Society and the World Cancer Research Fund.

Media relations, issues and campaigning experience also includes work for the Health Education Authority (HEA), promoting the benefits of folic acid, de-stigmatising mental health problems for the annual World Mental Health Day and campaigns such as "No Fear" – to reduce violence against social workers – for Community Care magazine.

Caroline has developed and implemented campaigns for foundation brands such as Calpol, the community retailer Lloydspharmacy and tackled issues including taboo health, head lice, working parents, self-check screening tests and Daily Fatigue. Caroline co-ordinated the launch of a new active ingredient in an established brand, Calprofen.

JO GULLIVER

Jo has been working in PR for over 10 years - beginning her career on consumer accounts including Laphroaig whisky, Kodak and Vizi toy company. She then moved into healthcare PR , where she worked on a number of high profile health awareness campaigns such as the HEA’s Skin Cancer programme, No Smoking Day and Community Care magazine.

From there she moved to the Central Office of Information (COI), where she developed and implemented marketing communications strategies for a number of Government departments. Key accounts at the COI included a campaign for the RAF to promote and encourage ethnic recruitment and the Home Offices’ Fire Safety initiatives.

Jo also headed up the fundraising press and PR team at the UK’s leading heart charity, The British Heart Foundation (BHF). During her time at the BHF (2000-2003) Jo layed a key role in securing corporate associations with Sainsbury’s ‘BHF - Charity of the Year’ (worth over £500,000) and Candis Magazine (worth over £350,000). She has also devised and implemented proactive PR programmes for the following corporate partnerships; Tetley, Shredded Wheat, Princes & Birmingham Midshires.

JO HUDSON

Jo has worked for over 10 years in a media environment, beginning her career in local journalism (print and broadcast) before moving into PR, specialising in public health awareness, media relations and campaigning.

Jo’s first position in the public relations industry was in the Medical team at the Cancer Research Campaign (now Cancer Research UK) where she was responsible for promoting the charity’s multi-million pound medical and education research portfolio. She then moved to a leading healthcare consultancy, managing media campaigns for a number of clients including national charities (British Lung Foundation), Government departments (DoH, ‘Don’t Give Up Giving Up’) and public health organisations (Health Education Authority, ‘Safe Sex’ and World Mental Health Day).

In 2000, Jo joined one of the UK’s leading charities, the British Heart Foundation, as Medical Press and PR Manager, heading up a team responsible for publicising research, public health and patient care initiatives. Jo played a leading role in the strategic development of the 20-strong Communications Division and was the core project manager for Heart Week 2001 -2003, including the national launch of the charity’s new fundraising initiative, ‘Wear Red for Heart’.
